This was just what was needed for a short run to the HF rig. Very good quality and if LMR-400 is too thick to make a run, then this is perfect. I've gotten some shabby coax before but this isn't like those. Very good quality.

An okay Coaxial Cable for Ham Radio

This is an Okay coaxial cable for Ham Radio or CB. One thing to note is to check the soldering on the PL-259's that come on it. Make sure it is connecting with the center conductor and is not a cold joint. I would not recommend it for high wattages or much over 100 watts regardless of the rating. For very short runs it seems fine on VHF and UHF. I used 50 feet run for a 220mhz antenna and had a very acceptable 1.2 SWR on most of the band. I also used a section for 440 and 2 meters and had a very good SWR reading on most those bands. That said, I did have to resolder the PL-259's but I would recommend it for a get by till something better comes around coaxial cable. It's not great but it certainly worth using on short runs.

When I received this RG-8X, I expected a little more thickness. When I mated my antenna with the VHF/UHF radio, the signal was great - much better than another antenna using RG-58. My ONLY disappointment, if you can say that, is I've seen much better quality PL-259 connectors on even 3' jumpers. That said, this coax really improved the overall performance of my ham radio and antenna. I'm sure there is better coax and connectors out there, but for the price you really can't beat this. I would recommend this coax for standard use.

RG8x is specified as .242 nominal diameter. This varies from .258 to .264 depending upon where you measure it. That's fine until you decide to shorten it and use a standard crimp connector with a .255 id crimp sleeve.
