Originally intended for use as a video connector in radar applications, the UHF coaxial connector was developed as a general-purpose unit for use in low-frequency systems from 0.6 - 300 MHz. Invented in the 1930s for use in the radio industry, UHF is an acronym for Ultra High Frequency because 300 MHz was considered high frequency at the time. They can be used when impedance matching is not required.
UHF connectors use threaded coupling. UHF connectors are economical and widely used because of their ease of assembly. The UHF solderable screw-in termination feature does not require a special crimping tool.

These PL-259 connectors were a little large for the cable on the Tram 1191 and 1198 glass mount antennas. I soldered the ground shield to tighten things up. Otherwise, they worked for me.

High quality, it has a gold plated center connector and silver plated inserts. Even the threaded screw-on ring has a good, solid feel with a sure grip. High quality, the connector has a Teflon dielectric that is very stable. I found these PL-259's easy to work with taking solder easily. I'm purchasing more from this seller as packaging was better than others with quick shipping and the price is right. Really these connectors are under valued. Thanks!
