What is the UHF Connector?

Originally intended for use as a video connector in radar applications, the UHF coaxial connector was developed as a general-purpose unit for use in low-frequency systems from 0.6 - 300 MHz. Invented in the 1930s for use in the radio industry, UHF is an acronym for Ultra High Frequency because 300 MHz was considered high frequency at the time. They can be used when impedance matching is not required.

UHF connectors use threaded coupling. UHF connectors are economical and widely used because of their ease of assembly. The UHF solderable screw-in termination feature does not require a special crimping tool.

Can be Customized for unique material or performance requirements

The connector design was invented in the 1930s for use in the radio industry, and is a shielded form of the "banana plug". It is a widely used standard connector for HF transmission lines on full-sized radio equipment.

Large size threaded couplings are a robust design

The Ultra High-Frequency (UHF) connector is a threaded coaxial connector that was developed in the 1930s by engineers at Amphenol. The UHF connector has individual male and female radio frequency connectors that form a mated connection by thread coupling.

Crimp termination type provides a lower cost method of installation

This is a cost-effective, robust radio-frequency connector that is suitable for general-purpose use.

Using to build my own patch cables for amateur ham radio. Easy enough to crimp. Comes with shrink tubing.

Bought this to replace a connector on my RG58 antenna cable (needed to remove 3ft of length). The connector itself has a nice build quality. It's sturdy and well made. My issue was with the installation of the connector. The barrel seemed too small for me to feed through my coax cable for termination. I had to hack my cable, literally with a pocket knife, to trim the diameter of the insulation just enough to fit.

I always need replacement ends. They should work fine.

The inclusion of even simple instructions would have saved me some time and effort. Not difficult to install. Overall quality is good.

Very good tolerances. I've had issues with other crimp connectors, but this set went onto the cable very cleanly.

Robust design with quality materials. Putting cables together was never easier thanks to a great product design and durable materials with very tight tolerances in assembly.

The connectors and adaptors arrived within 24 hours. Quality of these components was as I expected. Very satisfied!! Would I buy from same again? You Bet!!

These seem like good quality connectors. Good price too considering they include the smaller coax adapters.

I have not tried these for 8X and looking at them it will be a challenge getting them to work with 8X. These, however, work great on LMR240 which is what I wanted to use them for. The included heatshrink is glue type which is what you need for that extra strain relief. Other connectors I have tried did not have glue type heatshrink, or it was too short.

These connectors are exactly what they claim to be - good quality, crimp-on, PL-259 connectors for RG8X coaxial cable. They are easy to install (with the proper tools) and work well once installed. To properly install these connectors you will need a crimp tool with a die correctly sized (0.255") for RG8X cable, to crimp the compression band around the cable and connector, and a soldering iron to solder the center conductor of the coaxial cable to the center pin of the connector. A heat gun to shrink the included heat shrink tubing is also helpful. With these tools and a little patience, you can consistently assemble professional quality cables with these connectors.

These seem fine for making jumper cables or indoor connections. However they are not as heavy duty as other connectors so I would not recommend these for outdoor use. They are ok at best.

These are supplied with a strong, stiff heat shrink strain relief that is really nice. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of instructions with cable stripping dimensions and the correct size crimp dies to use. I bought a second set of these after using the first, just to have them on hand for future use. I definitely prefer the crimp method now over soldering the shield. You still have to solder the center conductor but that's easy.
