What is the UHF Connector?

Originally intended for use as a video connector in radar applications, the UHF coaxial connector was developed as a general-purpose unit for use in low-frequency systems from 0.6 - 300 MHz. Invented in the 1930s for use in the radio industry, UHF is an acronym for Ultra High Frequency because 300 MHz was considered high frequency at the time. They can be used when impedance matching is not required.

UHF connectors use threaded coupling. UHF connectors are economical and widely used because of their ease of assembly. The UHF solderable screw-in termination feature does not require a special crimping tool.

Can be Customized for unique material or performance requirements

The connector design was invented in the 1930s for use in the radio industry, and is a shielded form of the "banana plug". It is a widely used standard connector for HF transmission lines on full-sized radio equipment.

Large size threaded couplings are a robust design

The Ultra High-Frequency (UHF) connector is a threaded coaxial connector that was developed in the 1930s by engineers at Amphenol. The UHF connector has individual male and female radio frequency connectors that form a mated connection by thread coupling.

Crimp termination type provides a lower cost method of installation

This is a cost-effective, robust radio-frequency connector that is suitable for general-purpose use.

I placed orders for these connectors with several different suppliers (not sure which were going to meet my needs). These connectors were my final choice to use. The construction materials and overall quality impressed me.

These have a good weight to them. By far one of the best 259 connectors I have gotten for a while now. They solder easily with a good solid feel.

I used these to replace an end on a ham radio cable. Worked great. My first replacement effort.

It was very easy to attach the connectors to the wire. With Google instructions, I learned how to do it. No instructions with the connectors probably because the seller assumes everyone knows how to put them together. It worked out fine.

Could have a better insulating core but, it works... Don't heat it too much!

These work well if you know how to solder. I screwed up a couple but it wasn??t the connectors fault.

No directions on the shielding braid connection, to solder or other way to make the electrical connection. The center connector solder connection is straightforward. I bought a soldering gun 100-120 watt to make the installation. --Much easier. Hams have made videos on installing these and there are interesting videos online. I've bought two ten packs of these. I had lots of trouble trying to solder the braid using three different soldering irons. Had to spend the money on a nice soldering gun. Will possibly salvage the ones that ended up shorted out.
