Descriptions

What is the UHF Connector?

Originally intended for use as a video connector in radar applications, the UHF coaxial connector was developed as a general-purpose unit for use in low-frequency systems from 0.6 - 300 MHz. Invented in the 1930s for use in the radio industry, UHF is an acronym for Ultra High Frequency because 300 MHz was considered high frequency at the time. They can be used when impedance matching is not required.

UHF connectors use threaded coupling. UHF connectors are economical and widely used because of their ease of assembly. The UHF solderable screw-in termination feature does not require a special crimping tool.

Can be Customized for unique material or performance requirements

The connector design was invented in the 1930s for use in the radio industry, and is a shielded form of the "banana plug". It is a widely used standard connector for HF transmission lines on full-sized radio equipment.

Large size threaded couplings are a robust design

The Ultra High-Frequency (UHF) connector is a threaded coaxial connector that was developed in the 1930s by engineers at Amphenol. The UHF connector has individual male and female radio frequency connectors that form a mated connection by thread coupling.

Crimp termination type provides a lower cost method of installation

This is a cost-effective, robust radio-frequency connector that is suitable for general-purpose use.

Applications

  • Antennas
  • Military
  • Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
  • Public Address Systems

These are soooo much better, and only slightly more expensive. I just connected to RG142, the grip is so good I might not bother to solder.
    Very nice.

The design on the shielding soldering point is much better than others that have the larger holes. Additionally the plastic around the center pin seems more sturdy than other units I??ve used before. These did not melt during soldering.

I would not call ANY MANUFACTURER'S PL-259 easy to install. All have the same difficulty not heating the connector and the coax braid hot enough to get the solder to flow on both. However silver plated connectors like this are the best of all the connectors. Other's use plating which does not accept solder well. These connectors are good quality and priced where they should sell well at right now.

I bought some of those cheaper PL259 plugs with the brown colored plastic and was really disappointed with them when I tried to solder the center conductor only to find that the plastic melted. These, however, are much better. I have used two of them so far in setting up my ham shack and they soldered with no melting of the plastic material. Yes, these cost much more than the brown colored ones, but as they say - "you get what you pay for". Don't make the same mistake I did in buying the others - BUY THESE - they are worth it.

replaced ends on a couple old antenna and they work great. They solder up very well and the core takes a lot of heat with no damage. I will buy a larger pack of these to just have around for future upgrades.
