Descriptions

What is the UHF Connector?

Originally intended for use as a video connector in radar applications, the UHF coaxial connector was developed as a general-purpose unit for use in low-frequency systems from 0.6 - 300 MHz. Invented in the 1930s for use in the radio industry, UHF is an acronym for Ultra High Frequency because 300 MHz was considered high frequency at the time. They can be used when impedance matching is not required.

UHF connectors use threaded coupling. UHF connectors are economical and widely used because of their ease of assembly. The UHF solderable screw-in termination feature does not require a special crimping tool.

Can be Customized for unique material or performance requirements

The connector design was invented in the 1930s for use in the radio industry, and is a shielded form of the "banana plug". It is a widely used standard connector for HF transmission lines on full-sized radio equipment.

Large size threaded couplings are a robust design

The Ultra High-Frequency (UHF) connector is a threaded coaxial connector that was developed in the 1930s by engineers at Amphenol. The UHF connector has individual male and female radio frequency connectors that form a mated connection by thread coupling.

Crimp termination type provides a lower cost method of installation

This is a cost-effective, robust radio-frequency connector that is suitable for general-purpose use.

Applications

  • Antennas
  • Military
  • Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
  • Public Address Systems
  • Low-Frequency Applications

Not much I can really say about these crimp connectors. They aren't the super high end model, but when DYI comes into play, especially for the first time, they did just fine!
    For the money, great value.
For the ease of use, well that's an experience thing. I was able to successfully put an end on a damaged feedline of mine, and the connection is working. I don't have super high end equipment to test and vet the feedline, but it works! To me, that is all that matters. No major loss and/or audible interference.

Nickle plated rather than silver-plated but not difficult to solder. Good fit and easy to work with. Yes, I would buy them again.

Bought these to use on RG8x and they worked just fine. Plan on buying another batch. If you are looking for crimp on PL259's these will meet your expectations. Ham Operators can be picky about the gear they use and should feel comfortable purchasing these. Costs is reasonable as well.

  7. I Thought the Crimp Barrel is a Bit Small (Revised)

My initial thinking was that the crimp barrel is too small to allow pushing over the RG8X shield while still braided. I found that I had to undo the shield, smooth it out straight and trim the excess length to slide the barrel over the assembly before crimping. What I was doing was pushing the connector assembly too far. The inner shield tube was pushed under the shield and the outer sheath thus increasing the diameter the barrel had to go over.

After realizing my cockpit mistake, I find they are very good.. I like the small opening for the center conductor -- makes it easier to solder without slopping solder on the outside of the center pin. In spite of the issue, I've already bought another group of ten.

  8. Decent PL-259's

I'm a ham radio operator, so I know a thing or two about coax ends. I've probably soldered close to 100 over the course of my life so far. These are probably about "the best" lesser quality you'll find. Solder flowed easily and they fit well. Just don't overheat the tip, or you'll distort the teflon insert. Anyone know knows how to solder won't have this problem anyway.

Are these Amphenol PL-259 quality? Absolutely not. Far from it. Are these reasonable for lighter duty use? I feel like they are. I'll very likely order more.

These are pretty good connectors for the price. They are not the best but far from the worst and will do the job. I did break one by tightening it down too much but that was pretty much my fault. If I were to do it again I would buy a few better quality ones for outside antenna connections and use these where they are easy to replace if needed. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

These crimp/solder connectors are perfect for the coax jumpers I needed. They crimp well and the gold center tip solders well. They even supply shrink tubing for strain relief. Very comparable to DX Engineering connectors for a much lower price

Been a ham for 60 + years and have put on a lot of PL-259's. For the money these do all you need. They're sturdy, take solder well, and the reducer fit RG8X coax just right. I don't have any experience on how they'd hold up in the weather, but for me they'd be good as I always weather proof my connectors.
